Rocky Mountaineer offers a variety of vacation packages that appeal to different preferences and budgets. Each is centered around its luxurious train journeys through the stunning landscapes of the Canadian Rockies and the American Southwest.

Here are descriptions of  the vacations on Rocky Mountaineer:

1. First Passage to the West

This classic route between Vancouver and Banff or Lake Louise is the most popular Rockies train trip and a great introduction to the Rocky Mountaineer experience. The package includes two days on the train with an overnight stay in Kamloops. You can choose to stay in either Banff or Lake Louise, with hotel options ranging from comfortable lodges to 5-star luxury resorts. Your train journey will pass by spectacular scenery including the Fraser Valley, the swirling whitewater of Hell’s Gate, and imposing Castle Mountain. Optional add-ons include helicopter tours, sightseeing excursions in Banff National Park, and extended stays in the area.

2. Journey through the Clouds

Traveling between Vancouver and Jasper, this package also spans two days on the train with an overnight in Kamloops. The highlight of this route is the stunning scenery of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, and the magnificent Pyramid Falls. You can select from a variety of Jasper accommodations, from cozy cabins to upscale hotels. Additional experiences such as wildlife tours, lake cruises, and visits to the Columbia Icefield can be included.

3. Rainforest to Gold Rush

This lesser-known and infrequently operated route will take you from Vancouver to Jasper via Whistler and Quesnel. Over three days, you will enjoy diverse landscapes, from the coastal rainforest and desert-like Fraser Canyon to the Cariboo gold rush region and the rugged mountains of the Rockies. This package includes overnights in Whistler and Quesnel, with options for different accommodations in Jasper. Activities in Whistler include mountain biking, a ride on the Peak-2Peak gondola or just strolling through this famous mountain resort.  Upon reaching Jasper, activities you can enjoy include hiking, stargazing, and exploring Maligne Lake, known for the intense color of its water.

4. Rockies to the Red Rocks

This unique experience in the American Southwest connects Denver and Moab, Utah, with add-ons available from Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. Over two days, the train traverses canyons, deserts, and red rock formations with an overnight in historic Glenwood Springs. Highlights include the Colorado River, Ruby Canyon, and Mount Garfield.  You can customize your vacation package to include stays in Moab for exploring Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, add guided tours and river rafting adventures. New packages for 2024 include a 6-day escorted vacation from Grand Junction, Colorado to Denver and a 9-day experience focused on the Moab Music Festival beginning on September 3.

5. Circle Journeys

For an extended adventure, Circle Journeys combine multiple routes to provide you with a comprehensive exploration of the Rockies. For example, “Grand Rail Circle” includes the First Passage to the West and the Journey through the Clouds routes, along with additional days for sightseeing and activities in both Jasper and Banff. This package provides an in-depth experience of the diverse landscapes and attractions of Western Canada.

6. Custom Packages

Rocky Mountaineer also offers customizable packages where you can tailor their trip to your specific interests and time frames. Options include adding pre- and post-trip stays in major cities like Vancouver, Seattle, and Calgary, incorporating self-drive tours, and selecting from a variety of guided excursions and activities.
